This week, 8th graders from the International School of Brooklyn took a trip to our office to learn about journalism. The kids had been discussing freedom of speech, fake news and the need for journalism in class, so we decided to break them up into groups for a reporting assignment. Each group was assigned one of the three topics they had talked about in class and sent off to find experts to interview in the office. We gave them a tight deadline of two hours to interview people, research online and write their stories.
We’re publishing their stories, with some light edits, on this Kinja. Enjoy!
